SCHOOL ADMISSION TESTS

2011-2012

<Sidney HS Code Number: 164-020>

As a part of the admission requirements, colleges require admission tests.  ACT is the most common assessment used by 4-year colleges in this area.  Students can take these tests as many times as desired; colleges will accept their highest score.  An ACT score of 20 and rank in the upper half of the class is required for admittance into most four-year colleges.  The state universities in Iowa are accepting based on the student’s Regent Admission Index (RAI), a score formulated from GPA, percentile rank, number of core classes, and ACT score.  Some east and west coast colleges and scholarships require SAT scores.

Technical and/or community colleges do not require the ACT but still have an entrance exam, referred to as the ASSET/COMPASS Test.  They can be scheduled with the college.

What to bring on testing day: admission ticket, identification, permissible calculator, pencils, positive attitude, & a clear, well-rested mind.
