Board of Directors Regular Meeting

December 17, 2018  2754 Knox Road  7:00 pm

Call meeting to order and determine quorum

                The meeting was called to order at 7:00 pm by President Erika Graham. Directors present were Erika Graham, Alisha Ettleman, Mike Daly, Matt McLaren, Shad Smith. Also present were Superintendent Tim Hood, Secondary Principal Kim Payne, Elementary Principal Shannon Wehling, Business Manager Jennifer Maher and Board Secretary Janet Lemrick.

                The Pledge of Allegiance was recited.

Recognition of guests and public comment

                There were three guests present. No public comment.

Approval of agenda

                Motion to approve the amended consent agenda was made by Director Daly with second by Director Ettleman. Motion carried. Ayes 5 Nays 0

Reports

                Mrs. Wehling presented the Elementary report.

                Mrs. Payne presented the Secondary report.

                Josh Poe, Maintenance Director presented his report.

                Mr. Hood presented the Superintendent report.

·Architect’s contract still hasn’t received insurance verification.

·Still working on employee job descriptions.

·The February board meeting has been moved to Tuesday, February 12 to accompany scheduling conflicts.

Discussion

·The Board discussed ways to increase attendance at the next Community Engagement meeting.

·A request to the School Budget Review Committee for Modified Supplemental Amount and Supplemental Aid for the 2019-2020 Dropout Prevention Program was discussed.

·Corner Conference Participation Agreement was discussed.

Action Items

Approval of Board Policies 712 and 712R1

                Motion to approve the board policies 712 and 712R1 was made by Director Ettleman with second by Director McLaren. Motion carried. Ayes 5 Nays 0

Modified Supplemental Aid for Dropout Prevention

                Director Daly moved to approve request to the School Budget Review Committee for Modified Supplemental Amount and Supplemental Aid for the 2019-2020 Dropout Prevention Program in the amount of $26,568, for expenditures necessary to implement the 2019-2020 at-risk and dropout prevention program plans as approved by the Sidney Community School Board. Seconded by Director McLaren. Motion carried Ayes-Graham, Ettleman, Daly, McLaren, Smith  Nays-none

Corner Conference Participation Agreement

                Motion to participate in the 2019-2020 Corner Conference Activities Agreement in the following sports: Volleyball, Boys Basketball, Girls Basketball, Baseball and Softball was made by Director Ettleman with second by Director McLaren. Motion carried. Ayes 5 Nays 0

Approval of Personnel

                Motion to approve the shared contract with East Mills of Aaron Lang, Library Media Specialist, was made by Director Ettleman with second by Director Daly. Motion carried. Ayes 5 Nays 0

                Motion to approve the hire of Bailey Shirley as full time secondary associate was made by Director Daly with second by Director Smith. Motion carried. Ayes 5 Nays 0

Resignation of Personnel

                Motion to accept with regrets the resignation of Mary Wangen as part time cook was made by Director Ettleman with second by Director McLaren. Motion carried. Ayes 5 Nays 0

                Motion to accept with regrets the resignation of Melissa Mattoon as full time cook was made by Director McLaren with second by Director Daly. Motion carried. Ayes 5 Nays 0

Board Comments

                The Board received several positive comments on the vocal/band concerts recently performed.

                Community Engagement Meeting #5 is Wednesday, December 19 at 6:30 pm.

                Directors Ettleman and Smith agreed to represent the Board for negotiations.

                The new bumper pads in secondary gym are installed and look nice.

                Governor Reynolds and Lt. Governor Gregg visited and read Christmas stories to the elementary on December 18.
